Concept to construction support for a municipal pedestrian safety programme.

Problem Definition
Pedestrians crossing a six-lane arterial road were involved in more than 30 incidents in three years.

Engineering Application
Designed to SANS 10160 loading and SANS 10162 steel design, with vibration checks for pedestrian comfort.

Design & Implementation
A 42 m Warren truss was fabricated in four segments and lifted into place overnight in two road closures.

Results & Conclusions
Opened in August 2022; the municipality reports zero pedestrian incidents at the crossing since opening.
